Alto Paraíso - Chapada dos Veadeiros - Goiás

Full of mysticism, Alto Paraíso is the gateway to Chapada dos Veadeiros. Seated on a giant quartz plate, the region is the union of several religious organizations and many, many natural beauties. When you reach the city, you will feel different. The simplicity of things and the incredible magic that the place has on people is very perceptible and makes it special. Also known as The City of the Third Millennium, Alto Paraíso offers an opportunity for spiritual and physical balance: there are few options of alternative therapies in the region!
Next to Alto Paraíso is the village of São Jorge, gateway to the National Park of Chapada dos Veadeiros, with several waterfalls, savannah vegetation, trails and many adventure activities.
 Attractions:

National Park of Chapada dos Vedeiros
This is a plateau over 1,000m altitude, with canyons, waterfalls and corridors, some especially beautiful, crystal clear lakes and colored stones, such as the “Monkey”, of “Leather”, “Crystal River”, “Poço Encantado”, the “Abode of the Sun” and of “Salto do Rio Raizama”. The ideal place for walking in the numerous trails.

The Valley of the Moon
The formations resemble the lunar landscape, with caves and craters permeated with pools, carved by the San Miguel River. The trail is about 900 meters and it’s easy to navigate, but try to follow a guide.

Canyoning
The best places to practice canyoning are the Monkey River Valley and the San Miguel River Canyon. The first is a complex of canyons and waterfalls up to 100 m high. The route passes through three of them and takes about six hours, with average degree of difficulty. The second has seven waterfalls, with excerpts from swimming, jumping and tobogganing - also lasts about six hours, but may be followed by beginners.

Maitreya's Garden
Maitreya's Garden has a stunning visual, with a horizon of jagged mountains, fields of flowers, paths and buritis.

Handicraft:
The crystals extracted from the rocks of the region dominate the production of local handicrafts. There are many stores of objects made with crystals and stones like topaz, amethyst, agate and quartz. Other options are arrangements made with flowers, seeds and fruit, known as Flowers of Savannah. The best place to find traditional products of the region is the craft fair held on the weekend next to the Tourist Service Center.
